M'sian Woman Gets Her Helmet Stolen, Finds It Being Sold at a Flea Market by the Thief
In many cases of stolen property, the majority of the victims will never get back the items that were taken from them. But for one Malaysian woman, not only did she manage to retrieve her stolen helmet, but she also caught the thief red-handed trying to sell it at a flea market.
Sharing her bizarre experience through Facebook, the woman known as Jazz Tan Yee Mei said she noticed her helmet was stolen when she left after having a meal at a Japanese restaurant in Jelutong, Penang.

After reviewing CCTV footage, she reported the case to the police. However, since helmets are categorised as a small case to the police, Jazz was told the police could not put too many resources into it, and she had to be the one to submit more evidence for an arrest to be made.
"The sergeant also mentioned gathering more CCTV footage. If I could see the plate number or even check all the secondhand markets in Penang," she wrote.
Jazz decided to heed the sergeant's advice, and lo and behold, she found the thief selling her helmet at a local flea market.

Upon locating her helmet, which she recognised by the markings on the inside, the slightly frayed belt, and the faint smell of her hair gel at the Lorong Kulit flea market, Jazz immediately contacted the sergeant, who then spoke to the thief over the phone.
"The sergeant mentioned that the police will come and arrest him if he doesn't return my helmet."
In the end, Jazz managed to get her helmet. She added that the thief apologised for his action.
"The moral of the story is that, if you have any valuables in Penang that have gone missing, you can consider taking the steps I took above," she wrote in the end.
