‘Skibidi’ &‘Delulu’ Among Gen Z and Gen Alpha Slang Added to Cambridge Dictionary

Recently, some of these words have made their way into the Cambridge Dictionary. Let’s take a look at what they mean.

The term skibidi first went viral on YouTube thanks to Skibidi Toilet, an animated video series featuring human heads protruding from lavatories. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, skibidi is defined as “a word that can have different meanings such as ‘cool’ or ‘bad’, or can be used with no real meaning as a joke.”

Delulu is an abbreviation of the word delusional. It’s defined as “believing things that are not real or true, usually because you choose to.”

Other Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang terms recently added to the Cambridge Dictionary include tradwife and rizz.

Tradwife refers to a married woman, especially one who posts on social media while being a stay-at-home mom or wife. Like delulu, it’s a shortened form of “traditional wife.”

Meanwhile, rizz is defined as the ability to attract people’s attention and make them like you, often in a romantic or sexual way.
