Brewing Success: 3 Malaysian Cafes Ranked Among World's Top 100 Coffee Shops
With hundreds of coffee shops in the country, sometimes you just can't help but wonder which are the best. Well, wonder no more because a new list titled 'The World's 100 Best Coffee Shops' has just dropped, and three cafes in Malaysia are included.

How the evaluation was conducted

According to the official website, coffee shops can be nominated by the public or directly by their expert panel. To ensure they have chosen the best out of the best, there are a number of criteria that must be fulfilled. The criteria include:
  • Quality of coffee
  • Barista expertise
  • Customer service
  • Innovation
  • Ambience and atmosphere
  • Sustainability practises
  • Food & pastry quality
  • Consistency
The final scores were calculated using a weighted system, with public votes accounting for 30% of the final score and the expert panel's evaluation contributing 70%.
Here are the three Malaysian cafes that made the list:

#9 ONO Specialty Coffee & Matcha

ONO Specialty Coffee and Matcha is established by a team of specialists that includes Shaun Liew (two-time Malaysia Brewers Cup Champion of 2017 & 2019), Kent Fong (the head roaster) and Syun Hattori (the founder of Niko Neko Matcha).

Last but not least on the list is Sin See Tai. If you're curious about what their name means, it actually means 'New Generation' in Hokkien.
Founded by couple Julian Yeo and Sung Soo Teng, this cafe can only house around 15 customers at one time. Despite its quaint size, this coffee shop is known to have one of the best croissants in the city. Another fun fact about this cafe is that the coffee they serve comes from their roastery.
Location: 18, Kampung Jawa, 75100 Melaka
