10 Unique Guinness World Records Held by Malaysians That Might Shock You
Malaysia has earned a number of recognitions from the Guinness World Records for having the tallest twin buildings in the world and the largest hotel in the world. But did you know that Malaysia also held world records for other unique things too?
From stacking dice on a cat's paw to pulling a KTM train only with teeth, here are the 10 most impressive world records that are held by Malaysia.
1. The most eggs crushed with the wrist in 30 seconds

While cracking an egg is a piece of cake for many of us, Balakrishnan Sivasamy managed to up the ante and be recognised in the Guinness World Records in 2005.
The Malaysian who worked at a restaurant in Ipoh managed to crush 25 eggs in 30 seconds by placing them on the back of his wrist and bending his fingers backwards. His effort earned him the spot on the prestigious world records for the most eggs crushed with the wrist in 30 seconds.
2. The heaviest train pulled by teeth

On 18th October 2003, Velu Rathakrishnan wowed many after he jaw-droppingly pulled two KTM commuter trains weighing 260.08 tonnes with just his teeth, covering a 4.2-metre distance at KL Railway Station.
The incredible feat earned him a Guinness World Record for the heaviest train pulled by teeth and also earned him the moniker ‘King Tooth’.
3. The fastest time to pierce four coconuts with one finger

Yet another show of how some people are blessed with incredible strength and determination, Ho Eng Hui managed to set the world record for the fastest man to pierce four coconuts with a finger. Yes, you read it right. He pierced not one but FOUR coconuts with only ONE finger.
Dubbed the Malaysian Kung Fu King, Ho, aka Master Ho, uses his index finger to pierce four coconuts in the span of just 12.15 seconds. It is understood that for this record, each coconut is counted as pierced once the inside water pours out. The coconuts used in this attempt must also be removed from the plant for at least 10 days.
4. The most dice stacked on a cat's paw

It might sound bizarre, but a local cat that goes by the name Bibi was inducted into the Guinness World Records for the most dice stacked on a cat's paw.
Bibi's pawrent, Siew Lian Chui from Puchong, had stacked a total of 10 dice on Bibi's paw. Impressively, the cat managed to balance the dice, and with some photos to prove the feat, Bibi was officially recognised on 18th June 2017.
5. The longest line of Nasi Lemak bungkus

Since Nasi Lemak is beloved by all Malaysians, it's only fair that the dish was also included in the Guinness World Records, and in August 2013, that's exactly what happened.
Malaysia currently holds the world record for the longest line of Nasi Lemak bungkus, with 11,315 wraps achieved by HungryGoWhere Malaysia. Each pack of Nasi Lemak follows a strict set of requirements which says they should have a quarter cup of rice, a cucumber slice, half a boiled egg and a spoonful of sambal belacan before it is all wrapped traditionally in banana leaves.
6. The largest group of people dressed as Spider-Man

On 5th June 2023, 685 Malaysians showed up at Klang's Aeon Mall clad in the Marvel superhero costume and managed to break the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as Spiderman in one place. For information, this record was previously held by India, with the number of gatherers reaching 601.
Who knows Malaysia has so many people who own Spider-Man costumes?
7. The world's largest roundabout

Shah Alam may be known to many for having so many roundabouts, but the one roundabout in Malaysia that received the title of the world's largest is located in Putrajaya.
Measuring an impressive 3.4 km in circumference, the Persiaran Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah roundabout is joined by 15 entry/exit points, three of which are inside the roundabout itself. At the centre, the Istana Melawati, a royal retreat for the Yang Dipertuan Agong, stood tall as the landmark of Putra Perdana.
8. The most weddings attended as best man

If you think being a bridesmaid for 27 weddings like in the movie 27 Dresses is crazy, imagine being the best man for a whopping 1,445 weddings. That's exactly the case for Ting Ming Siong from Sarawak, whose impressive feat managed to earn him the spot in the Guinness World Records for the most weddings attended as best man.
Ting had attended weddings as best man from September 1975 until 26th February 2009, when he was recognised for his duty. In an interview with the LA Times, the barber and part-time noodle vendor said his record attendance was 16 weddings in a month.
9. The largest building in the shape of a dragon fruit

Nestled in HL Dragon Fruit Eco Farm, there's a building that resembles a dragon fruit.
Measuring 9.299 m in height, 9.410 m in width and 7.146 m in depth, this building was recognised as the largest building in the shape of a dragon fruit by the Guinness World Records in September 2023. Not just for show, this building holds a gallery with the history of the farm.
10. The largest food truck rally

Malaysians love street food. Thus, it's only fitting that our country was recognised in the world record for having the largest food truck rally.
The feat was achieved during the Penang International Food Festival back in 2018 in Batu Kawan. A total of 158 food trucks were recorded in attendance. The trucks sold a wide range of foods, from local delicacies to international dishes like dim sum, pizza and more.
