M'sian Grab Driver Buys Drinks & Cancels Next Trip to Comfort Woman Visiting Her Sick Newborn
There’s a quote by Oscar Wilde that goes, “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.” For one Malaysian woman, this quote rang especially true when she crossed paths with an e-hailing driver.

According to reports, the woman recalled a fateful encounter with a Chinese Grab driver named Lim Chee Woo. She had booked a Grab ride to visit her newborn daughter, Hasannah, who was being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Tunku Azizah Hospital Kuala Lumpur due to a neurological condition.
Sharing her experience on social media, the woman explained that she had no choice but to make the one-hour journey to the hospital alone, as her husband had just started working at a new location. She also mentioned that she had given birth only seven days earlier. Realising she wasn’t in a condition to drive, she opted for a Grab ride.
During the ride, the woman said she couldn’t help but feel like crying. She tried her best to hold back tears, but the driver noticed something was wrong.
“He gently asked if I was okay and whether I needed help. I asked him if it was okay for me to cry in his car.”

To her surprise, the driver responded with compassion. He even slowed down the car to give her time to process her emotions.
“He reminded me that while my child may be sick, I also need to take care of myself because I’m a patient too, I had just given birth.”
What touched her even more was when the driver canceled his next passenger’s ride and stopped to get her a hot drink and some food. She later found out that he empathised deeply with her because he also has a child with special needs.

“It felt like a fatherly love.”

When they reached the hospital, the driver told her to take her time. He even waited until she was safely inside the building before driving off.
The woman, whose own father had passed away, said the experience felt like receiving a father’s love.

At the end of her post, she expressed her hope to cross paths with the Grab driver again.
