The Weeknd Top Artist, BTS Raih 4 Piala Billboard Music Awards 2021
Ajang penghargaan Billboard Music Awards 2021 yang berlangsung Minggu (23/5) waktu Amerika Serikat melabuhkan tirai dengan menyaksikan The Weeknd berhasil terpilih menjadi Top Artist.
Ia langsung naik ke panggung setelah diumumkan sebagai pemenang.
"Pada kesempatan ini saya ingin mengucapkan terima kasih pada orang tua saya. Saya tidak akan berada di sini tanpa kalian," kata The Weekend seperti dilansir dari CNNIndonesia.
Pada kategori tersebut pria yang memiliki nama asli Abel Makkonen Tesfaye ini berhasil mengalahkan empat nomine lain yang juga memiliki karya bagus tahun ini, mereka adalah Drake, Juice WRLD, Pop Smoke, dan Taylor Swift.
Penghargaan ini merupakan yang ke-10 bagi The Weeknd. Sebelumnya, ia meraih penghargaan Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Album, Top Hot 100 Song Presented by Rockstar, Top Radio Song, danTop R&B Song.
Penyanyi solo lainnya Taylor Swift juga memenangkan beberapa kategori bergengsi, di antaranya Top Female Artist serta Top Billboard 200 Artist.
Sementara, Boyband Korea Selatan BTS sabet semua penghargaan dari nominasi yang mereka ikuti, sekaligus mencetak rekor personal.
Tahun ini, mereka untuk pertama kalinya memenangkan Top Song Sales Artist dan Top Selling Song dengan single berbahasa Inggris pertamanya, Dynamite.
Billboard Music Awards 2021 diselenggarakan di Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles, pada Minggu (23/5) waktu AS. Acara itu dipandu Nick Jonas.
